Assignment 2- Technology: :) or :( ?

While the purpose of technology is to make receiving information more efficient and rapid, it can have negative effects on people in a personal way. I feel that I am one of these people. I know that I can always rely on technology to give me answers to thought-provoking questions, to explain things I don't understand, and to give me how-to's and whatnot (thank you, Google). But at the same time, I can give props to technology for wasting my time on meaningless things and deriving my attention from what is truly important. Every high school student knows exactly what I mean when I use the words "phone" and "homework" together. The two can not coexist; millions of teens around the globe further support this theory every day. We whine and gripe about how our homework takes hours and hours to complete every night. What do you suppose is accounting for much of that time? I have a proposition. Don't think I am giving a slap-in-the-face to everyone who wastes countless hours on technology daily; I am a victim of this, too. I'm just here to tell you why I believe it can be, personally, a negative part of our lives.
Technology, I believe, is mostly negative in a personal way. On the flipside, most of society can agree that technology has helped to save lives and push our world forward, creating positive change. Specifically, if you point to the medical world and note all of the advances that have come about just in the past 20 or so years, you will be amazed. These advances are helping save lives and cure people who are sick. The value of life is indefinite; you can do nothing without it! Talk about technology being a positive attribute in that aspect.
