Assignment 9 Omer

Most people like to believe that the human race has a dependent relationship with war. I am one of those people. Without war, slavery would still exist in the south. Without war, the Nazis might have never been stopped. When these sorts of wars are waged, they initially had the backing of millions, but ended with those very same supporters hating it and wanting it to end. I can't play well enough with words to convey to you my idea, but Robert E. Lee does a good job of relating this idea. "It is well that war is so terrible - otherwise we would grow too fond of it." Wars are used to solve problems that will not be solved in other ways, but because we realize that war is horrible, it is not abundant. There are always alternatives to war, but those alternatives do not output the same results in the same amount of time. If the union had let the south go, war would have been evaded, but at what cost? Had we tried to negotiate with the Nazis, they would have ruled all of Europe in a matter of months. No one can correctly state that war is necessary in this occasion, but not in that one.
