Assignment 16- Kaylyn Torkelson

The Breakfast Club

When I first watched John Hughes's The Breakfast Club, the premise of the movie went over my head. I didn't understand how the movie I was watching had received such admiration from the masses. It took a second look (followed by a third and fourth and fifth) to see how meaningful the movie could really be. Set in high school detention, viewers are able to relate to the characters on a personal level. In the end, we all fit the stereotypes presented by the main characters in unique ways. The movie leaves us with a sense of mystery that shows us the true essence of life. The Breakfast Club doesn't only standout as a relatable movie about high school teens, but also a movie that shares insight on life for people of all ages.
