Assignment 22-Gibbs

Without a doubt, I would love to live the life of Elizabeth Bennet, from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. First and foremost, I chose her character because she has an overall very happy life. Both of her parents are alive, along with all of her sisters. In many of the blogs I read the main characters, while being incredibly fantastic people, have experienced horrible tragedy. This is not the case with Elizabeth. I have also always been fascinated with the periods of time that she lives in. The problem is, for most people that was a time of poverty. But for someone in Elizabeth's standing it would have been an easy life, full of pleasures. There is also the factor that she gets to marry Mr. Darcy-which is enough in itself. I love the world that Jane Austen describes, and Elizabeth Bennet is a lovely character, particularly strong-willed for a woman in her time. The very fact that she initially declines Mr. Darcy's hand in marriage was rather unheard of and shocking-it made me love her even more, in the strength and independence that that decision took. From the balls with their dresses, to the relaxing country life she is able to lead, everything about Elizabeth intrigues me and it would be incredible to live her life.
